The Hotel Buntes Haus is the oldest hotel in Seiffen. It was founded 480 years ago as a inheritance court. Originally court processes took place here – with the judge also being a fully licensed innkeeper at the same time! A tradition that was handed over from generation to generation. And so it happened that Seiffen residents have been gathering within these venerable walls for hundreds of years. The 1920’s an increasing number of summer visitors and winter athletes discovered this beautiful health resort. The buses stopped right up in front of the probate hotel court – and the guests loved to stay here. Even today, all vacationers take benefit of the hotel’s central location at the heart of this resort town. The Hotel Buntes Haus is still a popular meeting place for residents and visitors from near and far – you never know whom in the world you’ll meet here.

The history of the court of inheritance

the court of inheritance was mentioned for the first time. The inheritance of the judge of Seiffen is located directly in the village center on the crossroad of the two main traffic routes between Olbernhau – Deutscheinsiedel and Neuhausen – Deutschneudorf.

The owner was endowed with the lower jurisdiction as well as the brewing and serving rights. This was tied on the house and ground. A new owner needed al conformation from the landlord. The court of inheritance developed into the center of political life in the village. The oldest court book dates back to 1545 and records contracts retrospectively.

The first judge known by name is Lorenz Steffen.

He was holding the position from 1542 (or earlier) until 1552. He presumably took over the inheritance court property a few years earlier.

A first-class cuisine is the gastronomic flagship of the restaurants at the Buntes Haus – no wonder as hotel owner Ronny Weiß as a trained chef learned the trade from the scrotch. His successes he earned in international top hotels and restaurants. – as well as his head chef. The kitchen team attaches great importance to a fresh cuisine: ‘In our kitchen we tap every schnitzel ourselves. Listen to the typical hammering sound that will tell you, that everything is freshly prepared. Every day we get delivered with all the fresh ingredients.’

Our Opening Hours: daily from 7.00 a.m. till 9.00 p.m. (kitchen from 12 noon until 8.30 p.m.)

The Inn in Advent

For lunch we serve you freshly prepared meals specially customized for our guests for the traditional Seiffener Christmas.

Our goal: None of the guests should wait longer than 15 minutes for its meals. From 5 p.m. we offer dishes from our seasonal menu.

Our opening hours in Advent:

daily from 7 a.m. till 10 p.m.
warm kitchen from 11.30 a.m. till 8.30 p.m.
Christmas Eve the restaurant is open till 2.30 p.m. – from 6 p.m. we serve exclusively our “Neunerlei”, a traditional 9-course-menu (Reservations required!!!)
New Year’s Eve the restaurant is open till 2.30 p.m. – from 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve Party in our traditional hall (reservations required!!!)

Please place your reservations for lunch or dinner ahead as especially on all high frequented weekends and holidays we are fully booked at an early stage. Please pay attention that we won’t keep your reserved table longer than 10 minutes free on the agreed time and we will forward it to other waiting guests.

The culture of the Erzgebirge comes alive in the most beautiful way on the special traditional afternoons, Christmas parties or at the advent singing. The “Seiffener Christmas” at the Buntes Haus offers a multifaceted program. The traditional Seiffen Christmas Market welcomes you right in front of our hotel from the first Advent Sunday to the fourth. From three pigeon blue stalls we serve you the best specialties of Christmas in the Erzgebirge under the open sky. Enjoy the atmospheric music, delicious coffee and freshly baked cake as well as a large variety of hot seasonal beverages.
